For me to continue with my work, the stimulus and tacit support of institutions, foundations, galleries and art collectors is fundamental.
These are my most immediate PROPOSALS:
To create, produce artwork, in a temporal-spatial context of cultural
and geographic immersion. This proposal is based on my experience and
knowledge of the symbolic-conceptual flowering and hybridisation that
occurs in the artistic practice of the subject creator when they are
immersed in a cultural and natural context different to what has been
'naturalised', assimilated as their own. For this, I need explicit
collaboration when it comes to defining specific spaces for creating
(studio) and specific spaces for exhibitions.
To collaborate with composers who wish to use the poem
El Ojo de la Ballena / The Eye of the Whale
as a text to generate one or several musical scores (including,
preferably, the human voice). I wrote this poem under the intense impact
produced by my encounter with the Grey Whale in the waters of southern
Baja California, Mexico. In a contemporary global context of reflecting
on the relation and equilibrium between Nature and Culture, the
lyric-epic theme of this poem could serve as a stimulus, beyond
simplistic stereotypes, to raise awareness of our being-feeling on
Planet Earth.
To install the work About the Sea (visit the fabrics section) in different cities and/or cultural enclaves in Spain and Europe. The installation About the Sea is, metaphorically speaking, a vertical sea that floats and embraces the interior space of the architecture. I conceived of this installation with the intention and purpose of offering a space for intimate contemplation and, in turn, as a proposal that is open to the creation-interpretation of artists connected with the world of music, dance, word and performance. The first contribution made by a contemporary artist was that of the performer-composer Frano Kakarigi. On 11 October 2007, on the occasion of the inauguration of the exposition METAPHORS of Being (at the Instituto de América in Santa Fe, Granada), Frano Kakarigi performed the musical piece Two views of the sea before this installation. He created this musical piece after contemplating and subjectively recreating the installation About the Sea. Today, I continue to invite institutions and groups related to the creation of contemporary art to the task of facilitating the preservation, transportation and exhibition of this spatial work.
NOTE: The installation About the Sea consists of 11 geotextile fabrics, approximately 270 cm x 139 cm each, and offers many possibilities in terms of grouping and installation. The spatial syntax of this artwork depends, in the end, on the architectural space chosen to exhibit it. The installation that corresponds to the images in the Installation section of this web site, shows an assembled circumference arch with steel turnbuckles and cables.
